May 6, 2012- Equine
Rescue - A horse is
rescued by the Greenwood Lake
Fire Department Sunday morning
in the village. The horse, who
belongs to Stan Burgess and his
wife, of Greenwood Lake, somehow
squeezed through a small opening
in a fence and then slipped and
fell down a slope.
Firefighters managed to get two
large hoses under the horse,
attached them to a backhoe and
lifted him to his feet. It took
a while before the older horse
could walk steadily under his
own power.
Here, Greenwood Lake Fire Chief
John Rader leads the horse away
after the rescue. Fire Lt. John
Rader Jr., center, walks along
after the successful rescue.
